Compared with other copper bushings, graphite copper bushing have the following disadvantages:
Insufficient precision and rigidity: graphite copper bushing manufacturing process determines its accuracy and rigidity in the relatively poor, difficult to achieve high standards, not for the extremely strict requirements of precision and rigidity of the occasion, such as some high-precision machine tool spindles, precision instrumentation transmission components, etc., these parts are usually required to use the precision and rigidity of the bearings to ensure that the performance of the equipment and machining accuracy.
High-speed performance is not good: graphite copper bushing in high-speed operation, due to graphite lubrication performance in high-speed conditions is relatively limited, and its structure and material properties make it easy to produce a large centrifugal force in high-speed rotation, thus affecting the stability of the bearings and service life, is generally not suitable for high-speed high load working environment, such as high-speed motors, aviation engines, core components, etc. Usually do not use graphite copper bushing.
Limited pressure resistance: graphite in the graphite copper bushing itself has a certain degree of brittleness, its pressure resistance is relatively weak compared to ordinary copper bushing, in the high pressure, easy to rupture, damage and other problems, which leads to the failure of the whole component, so in some high-pressure working conditions, such as high-pressure hydraulic systems, deep-sea exploration equipment, etc., the use of graphite copper bushing may be at risk.

Limited service life: Although graphite copper bushings have good wear resistance under normal working conditions, their wear rate may be accelerated under extreme working conditions or long-term high load operation, resulting in a shortened service life. In addition, if there are more hard particles impurities in the working environment, it will also aggravate the wear of the graphite copper bushing, affecting its service life, compared with some special alloys or advanced surface treatment technology of the copper bushing, the life of the bushing may not be advantageous.
Higher installation requirements: the installation of graphite copper bushing requires more stringent operating procedures and technical requirements, if the installation is not appropriate, it is easy to cause damage to the graphite copper bushing or affect its normal lubrication and performance, requires experienced technicians to install, increasing the installation cost and difficulty.
Relatively high price: due to the graphite copper bushing production process is more complex, the need for graphite and other solid lubricants inlaid in the copper bushing substrate, and the choice of materials and machining accuracy have certain requirements, so its manufacturing cost is relatively high compared to ordinary copper bushing, which to a certain extent limits its popularization and use in a number of cost-sensitive application areas.

Limited temperature range: Although graphite has good high temperature resistance, but graphite copper bushing as a whole, its temperature range still exists certain limitations, in too high or too low temperature extremes, there may be performance degradation, lubricant failure and other problems, affecting its normal use.
Generate dust pollution: graphite in the use of the process is prone to generate dust, which may not only cause pollution to the working environment, but also to the operator’s health potential hazards, need to take appropriate protective measures to reduce the impact of dust.
