There are two main working principles of crusher thrust bearings:
Formation of oil film: when the crusher is working, the journal or the parts connected with the thrust bearing will drive the lubricating oil into the gap of the thrust bearing during rotation. Due to the structural design of the thrust bearing, the lubricant forms a converging wedge-shaped space in the gap. With the rotation of the journal, the lubricant is continuously brought into the wedge-shaped space, and driven by the journal, the lubricant in the wedge-shaped space to produce relative motion, so that the molecules of the lubricant between the friction and shear force. This friction and shear force will make the pressure of the lubricant rise, forming a layer of oil film with a certain bearing capacity.
Withstand axial load: When the shaft of the crusher is subjected to axial load, the load will be transmitted to the oil film of the thrust bearing through the journal. The pressure in the oil film will balance with the axial load, so that the shaft can rotate stably on the thrust bearing and avoid excessive displacement of the shaft in the axial direction. At the same time, the oil film can also reduce the friction and wear between the journal and the thrust bearing, prolonging the service life of the bearing.
The role of the rolling body: rolling thrust bearings are usually composed of two thrust shims (shaft piece and seat piece) and a number of rolling bodies, common rolling bodies are steel balls, rollers and so on. When the shaft is subjected to axial load, the load will be transmitted to the rolling body of the thrust bearing through the journal. The rolling body rolls between the journal and the seat plate, which converts sliding friction into rolling friction and greatly reduces the frictional resistance.
Carrying and transferring loads: The presence of the rolling elements enables the journal to carry axial loads with relative ease during rotation. While bearing the load, the rolling body will evenly distribute the load on the thrust shims, thus improving the bearing capacity and stability of the bearing. At the same time, the rolling of the rolling body can also reduce the wear between the journal and the thrust spacer, prolonging the service life of the bearing.
Whether it is sliding thrust bearing or rolling thrust bearing, its working principle is to bear the axial load of the crusher shaft in a certain way to reduce friction and wear and ensure the normal operation of the crusher. In actual application, it is necessary to choose the right type of thrust bearing according to the specific working conditions and requirements of the crusher.
