Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. According to the composition, structure and use of the alloy, the classifications of bronze bushings:

Ordinary brass

Ordinary brass is a binary alloy of copper and zinc, mainly classified according to the zinc content. Depending on the ratio of copper to zinc, ordinary brass has different mechanical properties.

Single-phase brass: brass content is higher than 65%, only alpha phase, good plasticity, easy to cold working. Commonly used in the manufacture of calendered materials and complex parts.

Duplex brass: brass content between 55% and 65%, composed of α phase and β phase, higher strength than single phase brass, but poor plasticity, suitable for hot working.

Special brass

Special brass is based on copper-zinc alloy, other elements are added to improve the performance of the material, common elements are lead, tin, aluminium, iron, manganese and so on. According to the addition of different elements, special brass can be further subdivided:

Lead Brass: Lead is added to ordinary brass, mainly used to improve the cutting performance. Lead brass is widely used in the manufacture of precision parts, screws, nuts and other parts that are easy to cut and process.

Tin brass: adding appropriate amount of tin to improve the corrosion resistance of brass, especially suitable for seawater and steam environment. Commonly used in the manufacture of ship parts, marine equipment and corrosion-resistant fittings.

Aluminium brass: adding aluminium can significantly improve the strength and corrosion resistance of brass, aluminium brass is commonly used in the manufacture of high-strength, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant parts, such as ship propellers, heat exchangers and so on.

Iron brass: iron can improve the strength and hardness of brass, while reducing the plasticity, commonly used in the need for high strength mechanical parts.

Manganese brass: the addition of manganese can improve the fatigue resistance and wear resistance of brass, suitable for wear-resistant parts.

Casting brass

Casting brass is a brass alloy moulded through the casting process, usually adding a small amount of lead, tin and other elements to improve casting properties and mechanical properties. Cast brass has good fluidity and is suitable for the manufacture of large parts with complex shapes. Common casting brasses are:

Lead brass castings: used in the manufacture of parts requiring high tensile strength and machinability.

Tin brass castings: mainly used for occasions requiring corrosion resistance and higher strength.

High Strength Brass

This type of brass significantly improves its strength and wear resistance by adding elements such as aluminium, manganese and silicon. High strength brass is commonly used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing and other areas where high strength and durability are required.

High Corrosion Resistant Brass

By adding elements such as tin, aluminium or nickel, the corrosion resistance of brass is enhanced, making it particularly suitable for use in corrosive environments such as marine and chemical industries. It is commonly used in marine equipment, chemical pipelines and other fields.

There are many types of brass, which can be adapted to various application scenarios according to specific composition adjustments, and have a wide range of industrial uses.
