Home > News > Industry news > What is the production process for copper fittings?
The production process of copper fittings usually includes the following main steps:
Material preparation: choose suitable copper alloy materials, such as bronze, brass, white copper, etc., and decide the proportion of copper components according to product requirements.
Melting: Put the copper and alloy elements into the melting furnace and heat them to a high temperature to make them melt. Temperature and composition need to be controlled during the melting process to ensure the uniformity and purity of the melt.
Casting:
Sand casting: The molten copper liquid is poured into a pre-prepared sand mould, and the rough blank is obtained after cooling and solidification.
Centrifugal casting: Molten copper liquid is poured into a rotating mould, and the copper liquid is evenly distributed through centrifugal force to form hollow or thick-walled copper fittings.
Pressure casting: Molten copper is injected into the mould under high pressure, suitable for small copper fittings with complex shapes.
Continuous casting: Suitable for producing long or tube shaped copper fittings, continuous pouring and moulding.
Forging (if required):
Forging of copper fittings after casting to improve the densification and mechanical properties of the material. During the forging process, the properties of the copper fittings can be further improved by heat treatment processes (e.g. annealing, quenching, etc.).
Mechanical processing:
Machining of copper fittings, such as turning, milling, drilling, etc., to achieve the designed size and shape requirements. This process also includes deburring, surface finishing, etc.
Heat treatment (optional):
Heat treatment of processed copper fittings, such as annealing, normalising, quenching, etc., to further improve the mechanical properties of copper fittings, such as hardness and toughness.
Surface treatment (optional):
According to the need, surface treatment, such as electroplating, oxidation, polishing, etc., for copper fittings to improve corrosion resistance, decorative or other special properties.
Inspection & Testing:
Ensure the quality of copper fittings meets the design and standard requirements through non-destructive testing, dimensional inspection, mechanical performance testing and other methods.
Assembly and Packaging:
Assemble the qualified copper fittings (if necessary) and pack them in protective packaging ready for shipment or further processing.
This production process may vary depending on the specific type of copper part and production requirements. For example, high-precision or complex shaped copper fittings may require additional finishing steps or special processing.
